[edit] Userbox

I created the SDSU Aztecs fan userbox. See Template:User NCAA-SDSUaztecs and let me know if anyone has any other SDSU suggestions. Streltzer 22:22, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

I also did some other things like the SDSU Fans category, and alma mater category for SDSU wikipedians, which are now shown on the bottom of my user page. I hope everyone enjoys. Streltzer 20:38, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The CSU Dispute

There is some sort of movement of San Jose State University students to designate the San Jose campus of the California State University as the "flagship" campus. See the discussion at the California State University article and talk page. There is no official support for such efforts, despite the comments on that article.

Such an effort mocks the University of California designation of UC Berkeley as the flagship campus of the UC system. As is well know, UC Berkeley was in fact the original campus, and all of the other campuses of the UC system were creates as branches of that first campus (or were converted into branch campuses from predecessor schools). Those campuses operated as branch of the main campus until becoming a seperate campus. In the California State University system, the opposite happened (other than the Chico and Pomona campuses and the recent creation of campuses in Ventura and San Marcos), and generally a series of seperate, independant normal colleges were collected together to create the CSU system. Although the San Jose campus is the oldest public college or university in California, even older than UC Berkeley, the selection of the San Jose campus as a flagship ignores other critical facts for selecting a flagship campus, such research activities, student populations, donations, etc. The effort to select San Jose as the flagship campus is misguided and presently (2006) lacks any official support. Streltzer 23:52, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

See also the discussion at the Talk:San José State University and Talk:California State University pages. Guest 19 February 2006.
A supporter of the SJSU renaming campaign responded on Talk:California State University. I'd reply to him in more detail, but his actions (vandalizing my user page as an anonymous user and then hypocritically accusing me of vandalism simply because he didn't like my edits) has stressed me out about the issue. Plus, you seem to be better versed in CSU history than I am. NeoChaosX 02:28, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
Thank you, but I think the recent deletions/redirections based upon the overall consensus of all Wikipedians has resulted in an appropriate resolution to this dispute. Streltzer 22:34, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
I certainly hope so. --NeoChaosX 20:15, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] SDSU Professors Vernor Vinge and Suzette Elgin

I'm actually not too familiar with sci-fi literature. I know of Elgin primarily because she's a linguist, and only secondarily for being a peace activist and sci-fi writer. Serapio 14:44, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

  • San Diego (especially UCSD, e.g., David Brin, etc., and to a lesser extent SDSU) seems to have knack for producing prodigious purveyors of science fiction literature (alliteration intended)... maybe its produced by something in the air, water, etc.?  ;-)

[edit] SDSU

I want to thank you for your hard work on the SDSU page, you have added a lot of signficant contributions. Have you been to SDSU recently to take the trolley picture? I am currently starting my second year there and I will likely be taking multiple pictures of the dorms, signficant buildings, and other structures on campus to soon add to the article. If you can think of any other notable sites that should have pictures, let me know, and I'll do my best to get them. Anyway, keep up the good work. --Nehrams2020 21:19, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

You are welcome. I enjoy this process and I like the interactive nature of Wikipedia. I think we should probably have a few pictures of the new campus construction, like the College of Arts & Letters, Bioscience Center, and Student Health buildings, so if you can capture and post those images then that would be great. Also, there is an observatory dome on top of the Physics/Astronomy Building and I can't find much information about that...how about doing some research on that as well as getting a photograph? Streltzer 00:32, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
Oh, by the way, I did not take the trolley picture. That was posted by a light-rail enthusiast, and it was originally for several other wiki articles. Streltzer 00:40, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
I'll work on getting those pictures and a few others, I'll just add them to the gallery section and they can be removed if necessary. It may take me a few weeks to get the pictures though, since I want to try and take the pictures on weekends when there are no students in the way. --Nehrams2020 18:31, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
I stumbled across this article. Should he be added to notable Alumni? If so go ahead, I wouldn't know how to lable it. Nehrams2020 03:45, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Interesting, perhaps we could add a new listing for "military"? Streltzer 22:27, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Also, perhaps we should move this list of famous alumni and faculty to its own article??? Streltzer 22:27, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Edits to Henry James and other articles

This crude vandalism edit seems way out of line with your previous contributions. What's going on? Casey Abell 19:18, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

You might also want to recheck what you did at Real estate. Your mistaken reversion at Homer has already been corrected. Andrew Dalby 20:46, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
My attempt to revert some vandalism failed as I wasn't paying much attention and talking on the phone at the same time. Apologies to all. Streltzer 21:21, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] SDSU pictures

Unfortunately, my camera broke a few weeks ago and I am unable to take any pictures as of right now. However, I will be getting a new camera sometime within this month. I guess if you're coming down for the game you can take the pictures then, or wait until I get my new camera. I'm sure you'd probably prefer to take them and get the angle you think would be best. They did finish the Student Health Services building and it actually looks pretty good. Construction of the new swimming pool complex is also currently under construction and will finish this spring. I'll be sure to get a picture of that once it is completed.--Nehrams2020 08:29, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:SDSU-library-image.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:SDSU-library-image.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 17:13, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:SDSU-library-image.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:SDSU-library-image.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.

Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 17:13, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Sdstateuniv-old-grey-image.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not.
