Talk:Street skating

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This needs to be merged with the Road Skating entry.

It does? The skates it lists as examples are social skates for intermediate skaters - entirely unlike "Road Skating" as described in that article. No drafting or pacelines, no downhill tucks, and the "rolling roadblock" created by the marshals means that the majority of the participants really don't need to worry too much about traffic law. 195.8.68.130 11:04, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

Note that the (marshalled, large group) street skates described in this article are quite different to the "street" skating that aggro skaters do: this stuff treats street furniture as a problem, whereas they tend to view it more as an opportunity. Is this ever going to become a useful article, or is it going to eke out a miserable existence as a battleground for two rival groups to fight over where the London link points? Just curious ... Daniel Barlow 00:08, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

-- It looks to me like the road skating article (unlike the road cycling article) restricts it to match inline speed skating except that it doesn't talk about competition. In that form, it leaves out the lower speed skates such as the group skates (including nightskates), commuting, individuals just skating for fun where there are no trails, etc.

Maybe the road skating article needs to be revised to not be so restrictive and the social skate aspect can be merged into it. Fuhrmann 11:12, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
