Strategos is just Greek for general. Having an article about the Athenian generals under this title is like having an article about the American navy under the heading Admiral.

Was Cleon ever strategos? I remember that he volunteered (somewhat accidentally) to head an expedition, but I don't know if he ever formally took the position.

[edit] Greek officer template

If you think it's overwhelming the article, let me know, and I'll remove it. I put it here because strategos is the only rank that had an existing article! --Jpbrenna 08:03, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Ender's Game reference?

I don't recall (and can't find any reference to) the Jewish ethnicity of the Polemarch or Strategos in the novel Ender's Game -- this section should probably be removed from the article if it's erroneous.

I don't think that it is stated in Ender's Game but is stated in one (or more) of the books in the Ender's Shadow saga. - Bornyesterday 14:51, Jun 20, 2005 (UTC)
