"Stronghold" is an episode from Season 9 of the science fiction television series Stargate SG-1.
[edit] Plot
The Jaffa Council is debating over a proposal to dissolve the council and have free election for the new government, when one by one the supporters of this action turn against it. After Kal'lel and Maz'rai, the strongest campaigners for democracy turn against it, Bra'tac and Teal'c try to find out why this happened and to convince those yet undecided of their cause. Meanwhile Cameron Mitchell is in the hospital visiting an old friend who is about to die.
At the same time, Teal'c gets kidnapped on Dakara and it turns out that Ba'al is behind the brainwashing of the council members in order to get himself chosen as leader of the Free Jaffa Nation. Mitchell, Carter and Daniel, with some other SG teams and with the help of Bra'tac eventually manage to penetrate Ba'al's stronghold and to rescue Teal'c. Ba'al (or more likely, one of his clones) is killed during the rescue and The Jaffa Council votes in favor of democratic elections.
[edit] Notes
- Ba'al's wardrobe seems to suggest that he has adapted Tauri designs to the Goa'uld preference for rich, elaborate fabrics.
- It is revealed that Mitchell's friend who is about to die in this episode was planned to be in his place with the X-302 project and was not because he was injured saving Mitchell's life.
- The video game that Mitchell and his friend play in the hospital room is Killzone on the Playstation 2.
