String Quintet, Opus 137 (Beethoven)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Fugue for String Quintet in D major, Op. 137, was composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. It was composed in 1817, and was the only work he composed for string quintet in his late period. The work is only two minutes long and was never completed. After Beethoven's death in 1827, Breitkopf and Härtel published the work, hence the high opus number. The composition is scored for 2 violins, 2 violas, and one violoncello.
