Strike aircraft
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A strike aircraft is any form of military aircraft able to quickly attack an enemy target with pinpoint accuracy and subsequently retreat with minimal losses. These aircraft have come about as a result of modern tactics, which aim to reduce civilian casualties and maximize damage to a military target.
Aircraft such as these are better suited to quick battles which involve little air combat. They usually participate in tactical strikes such as the Hit and Fade, as opposed to older tactics such as the Carpet bombing.
Strike Aircraft were used to great effect in both the Vietnam War and the Gulf Wars.
