Strength in Numbers is the most popular album from rap, metal, and funk pioneers 24-7 Spyz. It is the only album to feature Jeff Brodnax, who replaced original vocalist P. Fluid in 1991. On their third effort, the Spyz concentrate on simpler and more direct songwriting, toning down much of their hardcore punk roots and replacing it with Motown-infused heavy metal. The usual genre-hopping fare one can expect from 24-7 Spyz is here - reggae, R&B, jazz fusion, thrash metal, pop - but in a much more focused and cohesive manner than previous efforts, resulting in the band's critical and commercial peak.
Unfortunately for the Spyz and almost all of the pioneering black rock bands of the early 1990s, the Seattle grunge movement overpowered the music industry in 1992, leaving the Spyz without a record contract or media attention in the midst of their creative peak.
After the release of the album, the Spyz would take a break before reforming their classic lineup in 1995.
Like many 24-7 Spyz albums, this recording is out of print.
