Strangeland is an American horror film released in 1998. The movie was directed by John Pieplow and written by Dee Snider. The film focuses on the body modification underground culture's rituals.

A sadist by the name of "Captain Howdy" lures teens through the internet into his painful traps, in forms of body modification rituals. After Captain Howdy captures his daughter, a detective starts pursuing him. Eventually they catch him and send him to a mental hospital. Upon his release, the townspeople do not accept the new, peaceful former Captain Howdy, and lynch him to an apparent death, which causes him to revert to his previous self. Howdy starts to seek revenge and starts everything all over, only worse.

Captain Howdy was the name of the ghost Linda Blair claimed to be talking to through the Ouija board in The Exorcist.
When the mob gathers around Carleton Hendricks' home, someone is holding a sign that says "We're not gonna take it." This is also the title of the biggest single from Dee Snider's band Twisted Sister, as well as the hook line from a song from the rock opera Tommy.
Dee Snider makes at least two references to co-star Robert Englund's most famous character Freddy Krueger. First as Carleton Hendricks recovers from his fall from the tree. As he sits up he says "What a rush," in a very passable "Freddy" voice, one of the many one-liners uttered by Freddy Krueger during the series. The second reference is when he's fighting Detective Gage in the church. He says "First you dream, then you die," a reference to the plot of Nightmare on Elm Street.

According to the Strangeland DVD booklet, the character of Captain Howdy in the original script was supposed to be a clown. The character was changed as Dee Snider felt that too many moviegoers would compare Howdy to Pennywise from Stephen King's It.
Bile made their first cameo appearance in this movie.
The Captain Howdy character appears also on the song of "Horror-Teria", from the Twisted Sister 1984 release Stay Hungry.
