Strømm

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Strømm is a former municipality in Vestfold county, Norway.

It was created as Strømm formannskapsdistrikt in 1837, and belonged to Buskerud county. However, in 1838 it was incorporated into Svelvik municipality and thereby moved to Jarlsberg og Larvik amt, the name of Vestfold at the time. The municipality was split shortly thereafter, in 1845, into the entities Svelvik and Strømmen. At that time Strømmen had a population of 794.

On 1 January 1965 the municipality, which in the meantime had reverted to the name Strømm, was reincorporated into Svelvik. Prior to the merger Strømm had a population of 2,618.
