[edit] Galicia

Hi Stoni,

In case you haven't noticed. Galicia is a disambig. page because if you check out what links there, it's pretty much 50/50 between the region in Spain and the region in Europe that links there. Please stop moving the pages. Thanks. --Hottentot 22:48, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

I haven't checked up the number of pages inside wikipedia. But if you check outside wikipedia you will know why do I do this. I'm sure links inside wikipedia can be corrected --Stoni 22:50, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
Both Wikipedia articles are equally important. As many pages about the Galicia in Central Europe link to Galicia and the one in Spain. --Hottentot 22:54, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
If you check the [relevancy of links to Galicia article and the term Galicia in the Internet you will see that everything is about Spanish Galicia. I am sure that much people can link incorrectly in wikipedia. If you worry about this I can correct this also but will be more easy to correct Central Europe articles because there is no one outside wikipedia. Instead for spanish one you should correct 50% of articles at english wikipedia, all the other wikipedias that use Galicia for Spanish autonomous comunity (24 exactly/compared with 2) and other websites outside wikipedia. --Stoni 23:03, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
I am sorry but aren't equally important. Also Galician wikipedia has more than 10.000 articles. Also your calculus is incorrect, only 10% of articles are about central europe. Perhaps you saw some articles about Germany but it also link to Spanish Galcia --Stoni 23:05, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
Just an example: If you check links to Galicia one is about Karl I of Austria and as Central Europe Galicia is in Austria it should talk about it. But not, it also talks about Spanish Galicia. Perhaps this small Galicia took the name from the Spanish one. I have corrected all links it took me 10 minutes. Thanks, this will improve quality of Wikipedia. --Stoni 23:20, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

Stoni, I posted the following on my page re your request for assistance re WikiProject Galica:

I'm off the week after Christmas (yes, a week off!) and I'd be happy to pitch in at that time. Very interesting topic, I must say. One thing, could you send me a reminder around the 24th (I'm kind of like the absent-minded professor). Thanks, and I look forward to getting started. Jim62sch 17:29, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Stop

I never said that you should move Galicia (Spain) to Galicia. It should remain a disambig. page because both meanings are equally important, and it goes according to Wikipedia:Neutral Point of View. Please stop switching instances where is linked to Galicia (Spain) to Galicia --Hottentot 23:50, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

I thought it was enought to you what I told you to reflect biggest importance of Spanish Galicia in a neutral view. I thought it was better to move it because of now the only problem is that 50% of pages go to Galicia and 50% to Galicia (Spain), and 100% are about Spanish Galicia. There were just 6 pages about Austrian Galicia referring to Galicia --Stoni 00:00, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

But check about how many pages link to Galicia (Central Europe) and Galicia (Spain. The number of pages are about the same. --Hottentot 00:04, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
People in Galicia also write in Galician Wikipedia and and Spanish Wikipedia. For that reason there is only 476 articles linking to iberian Galicia compared to 425 about Central Europe. Also 90% of the links to Galicia were about iberian/spanish/the kingdom of Galicia. There are also other historic reasons that I think you don't care about. --Stoni 00:00, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
You just said the reason why Galicia should remain a disambig page. 425 link to the Central European region, and 476 articles link to the iberian Galicia article. Those numbers are close. --Hottentot 00:42, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Kingdom of Galicia

An Award
Very good Stoni! I've just seen what you have done with Kingdom of Galicia and Portugal, Kingdom of Galicia, Gallaecia, History of Galicia and the History of Galicia box series. My deepest congratulations. I was going to propose that something along those lines should be done, but you were ahead of me the whole time. For your work in bringing up the quality of Galician articles I award you the Barnstar of National Merit. The Ogre 17:25, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Ignacio_Ramonet.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Ignacio_Ramonet.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags or User talk:Carnildo/images. 06:43, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Copyright problems with Image:Vigo Flag.gif

An image that you uploaded, Image:Vigo Flag.gif, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

I noticed that the source web page had a copyright notice on it, so I do not believe that this is public domain. Jesse Viviano 23:58, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Anxo Quintana.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Anxo Quintana.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Chowbok 03:41, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:La Opinión A Coruña Front.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:La Opinión A Coruña Front.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
