The 2001 Peru Shootdown was an incident that occured on April 20, 2001 when a Peruvian Air Force jet shot down a Cessna 185 owned by a missonary organization near the Peru/Colombia border killing two of the four passengers. The shootdown resulted in cirticism and accucations of the United States Government and its conduct during the war on drugs. The shootdown prompted investigations by both Peruvian and American governments which concluded that the shootdown was an accident caused by miscommunication.
