Stowmarket High School

Stowmarket High School is a secondary school in Stowmarket, Suffolk, England. It currently accommodates 1,050 students from school years 9 to 11, and roughly 50 teachers. The Headteacher is currently Mr D. Oliver, who was to retire in Christmas 2006 but has agreed to stay on for another term (until end of March 2007.) His replacement was recently announced as Mr. K Penn.
The school was founded in 1909 and established as a comprehensive in 1971. In 1955 the school was moved from Violet Hill Road to the Onehouse Road site it occupies today.
The school was awarded Technology College status in March 2001, and has been renewed in 2006. This has seen the creation of new computer suites in the school as well as improved provision for technology students.
The school has recently finished an OFSTED inspection.
The mother of actress Sophie Stanton teaches here.

The school also has a Sixth Form centre which is now based in its own dedicated building. This features a Sixth Form computer room as well as a common room and gallery seating area. The centre also has four classrooms which are mainly used for the teaching of Business Studies, History, and Media Studies, the Sixth Form also has its own Art Studio and Design room. The current head boy of the Sixth Form and School is Daniel Barker while the head girl is Ellie Watson. .
