[edit] Storylines
Soon afterwards, Rangi helped clear Donna of murder and the two realised they were still in love. Rangi broke up with Janet and he and Donna finally married in the show's 2000th episode. Rangi and Donna would be happy for a while, but soon Donna's fertility problems began to get in the way.
Minnie's new attitude towards men backfired when it led her into a brief foray into doing things that bore an uncanny similarity to prostitution. She wound up in a spot of bother when a man she slept with died. Nick helped her get out of this jam and the two formed a brief relationship. Unfortunately Nick lost his temper with Minnie and hit her one day. Minnie forgave Nick, but the two decided that they were just not meant for each other. Nick eventually got together with Rangi's new ambulance partner Angela (Ange) Weaver. They had only been together for a few weeks when Ange discovered that she was pregnant with Nick's child. After some initial doubts, Nick and Ange committed themselves to each other and the new baby on the way.
Dean and Moira married in early 2000. Dean's daughter Erin came to live with Moira and Dean, and while she initially did not get along with her stepbrother Blake, the two soon formed a friendship, though the family's unity was severely threatened when Erin fell for her teacher. Erin was eventually sent back to live with her mother, much to Blake's display.
Victor Kahu arrived at the clinic and began a relationship with Sofia. However Victor and Kate had an attraction to each other andsoon began seeing each other secretly.
Moira's nephew Eamon came to live with her and her family. Eamon began pursuing Kate but was enraged when he learned that she had been sleeping with Victor. Eamon decided that he wanted revenge and on the night that Victor informed Sofia that he was leaving her, Eamon took Kate out for drinks. Eamon spiked Kate's drink. The next day Fergus found Kate in a dishevelled state with no memories of what had happened the night before. Eamon claimed that he and Kate had had a one night stand. When Al informed Kate that there were drugs in her system, kate was horrified to realise that Eamon had raped her.
Eamon's presence in the household would drive Dean and Moira apart, particularly after Kate pressed charges for rape. Moira believed in Eamon's innocence, but Dean realised that he was guilty. The case against Eamon was dismissed and Eamon decided to get revenge against those who believed Kate, particularly Dean and Fergus. Eamon played upon Moira's sympathy to the point where Dean finally had enough and left Moira. Eamon then spread rumours about Fergus using ecstasy. Waverley began to believe that Fergus was using drugs, so Fergus bitterly dumped her. Minnie told Waverley that Eamon was lying and Waverley managed to catch Fergus before he left town. The two reconciled and got engaged. Meanwhile Kate plotted her own revenge against Eamon. She drugged him and took him to a clifftop where she attempted to get him to confess to her rape.
Nick and Ange's happiness was shortlived when Ange discovered that she had cancer and had to make a choice between treatment and the baby. Ange choose the baby and carried the child until she was 28 weeks before giving birth. However by this time it was too late to treat the cancer, and Ange only had a few months left to live.
