Stokke is a municipality in the county of Vestfold, Norway. Stokke is also the name of the municipality's administrative centre.
[edit] The name
The municipality (originally the parish) is named after the old farm Stokke (Norse Stokkar), since the first church was built here. The name is the plural form of stokkr m 'log'. (This is probably referring to some long and small hills/ridges near the churchsite.)
[edit] Coat-of-arms
The coat-of-arms is from modern times (1984). It shows three logs (timber). (See above under information of the name.)
