Stokes Bay (grid ref.: SZ 590 980) lies just off Gosport, between Portsmouth and Lee-on-the-Solent, Hampshire. Here all large warships (e.g. US aircraft carriers) anchor as Portsmouth Harbour is not big enough to berth them.
