Copyrighted

This image is a single panel from a comic strip or the interior of a single issue of a comic book and the copyright for it is most likely owned by either the publisher of the comic or the writer(s) and/or artist(s) which produced the comic in question. It is believed that the use of low-resolution images of a single panel from a comic strip or an interior page of an individual comic book

  • to illustrate:
    • the scene or storyline depicted, or
    • the copyrighted character(s) or group(s) depicted on the excerpted panel in question;
  • where no free alternative exists or can be created,
  • on the English-language Wikipedia, hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation,

qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Fair use for more information.

To the uploader: please add a detailed fair use rationale for each use, as described on Wikipedia:Image description page, as well as the source of the work and copyright information.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Storm

This image, Storm-bigcostume2.jpg, is being linked here; though the picture is subject to copyright I (Onomatopoeia 10:12, 30 November 2006 (UTC)) feel it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

  1. No free alternative can exist given the likeness of the character Storm is a trademark and thus protected;
  2. It is a low resolution copy of a comic book cover;
  3. The image was released to the media to promote the issue in question, issue 223 of Uncanny X-Men;
  4. It does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell the comic book in any way;
  5. Copies could not be used to make illegal copies of the comic book cover art on another comic book;
  6. It depicts Storm in her new mohawk look, thus visually underlines what is said the corresponding text section (i.e. that Storm changed her look); the look change was so significant it was also adapted in the blockbuster movie X-Men 3
