Stir Crazy is a 1980 comedy film directed by Sidney Poitier. It stars Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor as two men framed for a bank robbery and each ending up with a 125 year prison sentence.
In 2000, readers of Total Film magazine voted it the 22nd greatest comedy film of all time.
The 1985 CBS sitcom of the same title was loosely based on the film but did not have any of the film's stars involved with it.
[edit] Memorable Moments
Arguably one of the most memorable moments of the film is when Richard Pryor enters the jail with Gene Wilder after being arrested for the armed robbery. Eager to show the other prisoners that they are not just two weak and feeble men, or as Pryor put's it 'get bad so they don't mess with ya!'; the tough guy walk Pryor performs is one of the highlights of the film. However, quickly after this moment they are embroiled in a cell dispute and their true wimpish and helpless personalities are brought to light.
