[edit] Hey Arnold
Stinky Peterson is a fictional character on the TV show Hey Arnold!
Stinky is the resident redneck of the show. Talking with a stereotypical southern accent, Stinky is tall, has short brown hair, and his usual outfit is a green t-shirt, jeans, and (in the first season) spiked bracelets. Only his voice gives his roots away. He also lives on a farm, despite the fact the show is set in a city.
Stinky is a pretty nice guy. He is rarely mean to people, and the only episodes in which he was seen being mean were "Harold vs. Patty" and "Arnold Betrays Iggy." Stinky was often ridiculed for his weirdness and southerness.
Stinky was at one time deeply attracted to Helga ("Helga's Boyfriend"), but as Helga only had affection for Arnold, she told Stinky she liked him and the two started going out, in an attempt to make Arnold jealous. At the end of the episode, he learns Helga used him and in typical cartoon fashion, the ordeal is forgotten.
Also, in the episode "Stinky's Pumpkin" nobody believed in him. Another significant event of that episode is that we get a good look at Stinky's homelife. We learn that all the male members of his family are named Stinky, and they obviously do not have much money, living in an average hillbilly kind of household with a porch swing, screen door, etc. He also does not seem to have a mother, just a dad, his grandparents, and a couple of aunts and uncles. Stinky's biggest storyline is in the episode "Stinky Goes Hollywood," in which Stinky gets a job as a spokesperson for Yahoo Soda (probably a spoof of Yoo-hoo), only to find he was chosen to be Yahoo's spokesperson simply because he was stupid.
Stinky in general is a sweet guy, and his biggest disadvantage is being unable to realize when people are taking advantage of him. But he is an essential country boy. In one episode, Stinky's best friend, Sid, believes him to be a vampire (in "Sid the Vampire Slayer"), due to a series of actions committed by Stinky which makes him fit the profile. Arnold, angered by Sid's incessant accusations, takes Sid to Stinky's house where Arnold proves to Sid that Stinky could not possibly be a vampire, as vampires do not have reflections. Finally, satisfied with this tid-bit of information, Sid excuses his rude behaviour and leaves, along with Arnold. Then, with the two gone, Stinky's pet bat returns from the outside, to which he tells all that has happened to him that day, including Sid coming by to accuse him of being a vampire.
Chuckling to himself, he then asks the bat "I wonder where he coulda' got that idear", whereupon he begins to laugh even harder (almost maniacally). Then, a flash of lightning suddenly appears (the flash blotting out the screen for a second) and in its aftermath, upon closer inspection of Stinky's open mouth, we can clearly make out a pair of long, pointed incisors, hinting that perhaps Stinky is more than he appears to be. He is usually seen with Harold and Sid.
[edit] The Red Green Show
Stinky Peterson is also a fictional character on The Red Green Show. Stinky's full name is Stephen Riechen Puanteur Peterson. He is what the show calls a mythical character, which is a character on the show, however only in a passing mention, and is never seen. Stinky is often the subject of ridicule on the show, as Stinky is apparently quite stinky.
[edit] Recess
Stinky Peterson is also a character on the Disney cartoon Recess. Although he is never seen, he is often mentioned in the form of cautionary tales the children tell one another. Even the adults sometimes tell stories about him; it seems he is the stuff of legend. He is similar to another Recess character, Lil John Petersen.
Known lookalikes: Ian Cox from Orrville OH.
