STICKY is a book of slice-of-life gay erotic comics written by Dale Lazarov and drawn by Steve MacIsaac. STICKY was originally serialized in three individual issues by Eros Comics / Fantagraphics; the series was collected, with remastered color, better paper and production values, and a new framing sequence, as a hardcover published by Bruno Gmünder Verlag.
Lazarov and MacIsaac use wordless sequential narrative storytelling to evoke the sensuality and the dynamism of versatile, robust man-on-man sexuality while being humane, tender, and character-based. Because of its erotic warmth, STICKY appeals to both gay men and women who like gay erotica. In TimeOut Chicago, Jason Heidemann said “Carnality and sweetness is the exactly the right combination that makes STICKY a real standout in the genre. Readers will find the material is both erotically charged and unabashedly romantic.”
Four stories in the book share the theme of masculine gay men who find unexpected congeniality as well as sexual passion with each other. These stories are bookended (and, slyly, complimented) by a framing narrative of a gay couple whose intimacy isn't alienated, but, rather, enhanced by the stories they read in their copy of STICKY.
The drawing style consists of two-tone line art whose coloring depends on a palette that compliments each story individually. The framing sequences are in full color. The hardcover collection of STICKY is 80 pages long, and was published by Bruno Gmünder Verlag (Berlin, Germany) in March 2006.
