Tkelly7, I'm sorry, but you are going to have to do better (a lot better) than "my father-in-law never heard of him" as a source. Since Sasson holds the fundamental patent, which was assigned to his employer Kodak, and was featured in numerous articles celebrating the 30th anniversary of the invention of the digital camera, I think he qualifies as the inventor, or at the very least co-inventor with his co-patent holder, Gareth Lloyd.
