Stewart McArthur

Fergus Stewart McArthur (born 27 October 1937), Australian politician, has been a Liberal Party of Australia member of the Australian House of Representatives since February 1984, representing the Division of Corangamite, Victoria. He was born in Melbourne, Victoria, and was educated at Cambridge University, where he gained a master's degree. He was a farmer and company director before entering politics. He was Victorian State President of the Liberal Party 1983-84.
In 2006, McArthur was challenged for preselection by local businessman Rod Nockles. He saw off the challenge and will be the Liberal candidate at the next Federal election.
McArthur was a member of the Opposition Shadow Ministry 1990-96. He has been a Government Deputy Whip since 1996.
