Stevensville, Ontario

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stevensville is a small community in southern Ontario, Canada within the Municipality of the Town of Fort Erie. The centre of the community, the intersection of Sodom/Stevensville Road and Main Street, is about 20 minutes from the town's downtown core. Stevensville is home to several small shops and restaurants, a feed mill, ACG Canada, ZOOZ, and DMI (a wind turbine tower manufacturer).

Only a few kilometres north of Lake Erie, Stevensville is primarily comprised of agricultural/farm land.

ZOOZ, is a small local zoo that was started as an expansion of the Stevensville Garden Gallery & Stevensville Lawn Service that calls Stevensville home.

Stevensville is also home to a "castle" of sorts. It is actually the home of a local general contractor and his family. Contray to some people's belief, construction of the home is ongoing, having started sometime in the late 90's, with the family living in a trailer next to the partially completed home.

Stevensville is also the birthplace of Canadian entrepreneur James Lewis Kraft, inventor of processed cheese and founder of the multimillion dollar J.L. Kraft & Bros. Company, which later became Kraft Foods Inc.

Stevensville is located at 42°56′38″N, 79°03′33″W.
