Steven Whittaker (born June 16, 1984, in Edinburgh) is a Scottish professional footballer currently playing for Hibernian in the Scottish Premier League.

Whittaker signed for Hibs from Hutchison Vale Boys Club in 2001. After winning a first team debut in 2003, his form suffered through lacking a defined position he was deployed as a right-back and on both sides of midfield as Bobby Williamson struggled to fashion a successful Hibs team during the 2003-04 season.

The arrival of Tony Mowbray in 2004 saw Whittaker confirmed in the team's right-back role, and with this new certainty, he flourished, becoming a regular in the Scotland Under 21 team and helping Hibs to a 3rd place league finish.

In October 2006 Whittaker was brought into the Scotland squad for the European Football Championship qualifying match against Ukraine after the suspension of Christian Dailly following a yellow card in 1-0 win over France. Although he did not feature in the match as Scotland lost 2-0.
