Steven Sabol

Steven "Steve" Sabol (born 2 October 1942) is an American filmmaker. He is the president, and one of the founding members, of NFL Films.

Sabol was born in Moorestown, New Jersey. He left Colorado College after his first year to work as a cameraman alongside his father, Ed Sabol. They both worked under famous sports film director Dan Endy. He started in the filming industry when his father got the rights to the 1962 NFL Championship.

This company eventually grew into NFL Films with Sabol serving mainly as a cameraman in the 1960s and 1970s. When ESPN was founded, they signed NFL Films as a production company and Steve became an on air personality. He has since won several Emmy Awards as well has had a documentary (Tight on the Spiral) air about him. Sabol also played a part in founding the NFL Network.

His voice also appears in Madden NFL 06 and 07 and his voice and likeness appear in NFL Head Coach.

Sabol is the author of the poem The Autumn Wind.
