Steven Rudich

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Steven Rudich is a professor in the Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science. Along with Alexander Razborov, he created the concept of a natural proof. He is best known to Carnegie Mellon students as the teacher of the class 'Great Theoretical Ideas in Computer Science' (formerly named 'How to Think Like a Computer Scientist'), often considered one of the most difficult classes in the undergraduate computer science curriculum. He is an editor of the Journal of Cryptology, as well as an accomplished magician.

In recent years Rudich has been suffering from macular degeneration, specifically Stargardt's disease, causing a progressive loss of vision. Despite the loss of most/all of his vision, he still teaches regularly and is well-regarded by his students.
