Steven Hogg (born October 1, 1985 in Bury, Greater Manchester) is an English professional football (soccer) player who currently plays for Gretna. He is a midfielder.
He began his career as a trainee with Manchester United but was rejected after one year. Liverpool offered him a trial, but chose not to sign him, and Shrewsbury Town offered him a two-year contract before the start of the 2005-06 season.
He made his debut for the Shrews on the opening day defeat at home to Rochdale as a substitute. In the following year-and-a-half he played in only 20 matches, but survived manager Gary Peters's trim of the Shrewsbury squad at the end of his first season.
Peters once described Hogg as, "Glenn Hoddle with a left foot".
He joined Gretna in January 2007, having been spotted by Gretna's director of football Mick Wadsworth who was assistant manager at Shrewsbury during Hogg's first season.[1]
