[edit] Playing career

Eminger started his hockey career with the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League in 1999. He was drafted in the first round, 12th overall by the Capitals in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, as a result of his stellar play with Kitchener. He made his NHL debut the next season, but after 17 games in Washington he was sent back down to Kitchener. This proved to be a blessing in disguise, however, as the Rangers were strengthened by Eminger's return, and they became a team so dominant that they won the Memorial Cup as the best team in Canadian junior hockey.
