Steve David

Steve David (born March 11, 1950) is a former North American Soccer League star and Trinidad and Tobago international.

David scored 16 goals in World Cup qualifiers for T&T between 1971 and '75. He played for Police in the 1970s before migrating to America to play in the NASL. He played for a number of teams - the Miami Toros for three summers (1974-76), Los Angeles Aztecs 1977 and part of '78, Detroit Express for part of '78, California Surf the rest of '78 and 1979, San Diego Sockers part of 1980, and San Jose Earthquakes the remainder of '80 and 1981.

David was named NASL MVP for its 1975 season as the Toros reached the league cup play-off semi-final stage. The previous year they had reached the finals, losing the championship games to Los Angeles 4-3. He finished the league's 8th all-time leading scorer with 228 points in 175 games, including a 7th best tally of 100 goals.

David continued his scoring success in the Major Indoor Soccer League as a member of the Phoenix Inferno , finishing the 1981-82 season the league's 4th best scorer with 81 points in 44 games and the 1982-83 season 9th best with 81 points in 47 games.
