Stephen Zunes

Stephen Zunes (b. 1956) is a political theorist and activist with particular interest in the Middle East. He has been at the University of San Francisco since 1995 and is currently professor of politics and chair of the Peace and Justice Studies program there. He received his B.A. from Oberlin College in 1979, his M.A. from Temple University in 1983, and his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1990. Zunes also serves as the Middle East editor for the Foreign Policy in Focus think tank.
Professor Zunes has aroused controversy in some circles for his insistence that terrorism is the direct result of US foreign policy in the Middle East.
