Stephen Lovatt (born May 27, 1964) is a New Zealand actor best known for his portrayal of the character Max Hoyland in the Australian soap opera Neighbours. He has performed on television, film and in the theatre since training as an actor at the New Zealand Drama School. His television credits include various guest starring roles on Xena: Warrior Princess. He also auditioned unsuccessfully for the role of Faramir in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy. Lovatt has announced his departure from Neighbours and has recently filmed his final scenes in the show.
In 2006, Stephen Lovatt was awarded the title "Australia's Brainiest Neighbour".
He made a cameo appearance in the 2006 movie Superman Returns, playing one of the reporters from the Daily Planet.
