Stephen 'Lofty' Loft (born 20 June 1963 in Echuca, Victoria, Australia) is a former rally driver and mountain biker.
[edit] Rally career
Loft began rallying shortly after getting his license. He soon found that he was much better as a navigator to more talented drivers, such as Terry Trewern whom he naviagated for from 1993 to 2005. He now participates in rallying in an advisory role helping up and coming navigators with the craft of rally navigation.
[edit] Mountain biking
Once he stepped down from his rallying career, he took up mountain biking, inventing such stunts as the "Lofty Flop", the "Tank Drop" and starring in such videos as "How not to jump off a stump".[citation needed]
He captained the MTB Team "I'll do it if you do it" in the 2005 Subaru Interactive @ Docklands 12 hour enduro, where he endured the worst conditions and still managed to set the forth fastest time for the team.
[edit] Model building
Lofty is an internationally recognised[citation needed] authority on Rally Car Model Building, with his speciality being Toyota Team Europe (TTE) cars such as Toyota Celicas and Corollas. He currently has in excess of 200 models awaiting production. This includes a long term project on a 1:1 scale 1971 Toyota Celica that has been under construction since 1985.
