Stephanie Lawrence (16 December 1950-04 November 2000), was a British musical theatre actress.

Stephanie Lawrence was born in Hayling Island, Hampshire the daughter of a musician and classically trained dancer. Having trained at the Arts Educational School at Tring, Hertfordshire, she made her debut in "The Nutcracker" at the Royal Festival Hall in London in 1962. Her West End debut came at the age of 16, playing the part of a rollerskating tap dancer in Forget Me Not Lane. From her early debut, Lawrence moved on to take over the role of Eva Peron in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita from Marti Webb in 1981. Following Evita, she continued on the West End as Marilyn Monroe in Marilyn!, Pearl in Starlight Express and Grizabella in Cats. In 1989, Stephanie Lawrence took the role of Mrs. Johnstone in the revival of Willy Russell's Blood Brothers. Lawrence played the role four years at The Albery Theatre in London before moving to fill the role at The Music Box Theater in New York (1993) where she was nominated for a Tony Award. Lawrence's film credits include Buster (1988), The Likely Lads and the role of Carlotta in The Phantom of the Opera (1989). Her hobbies included: gardening, clothes, music, water-skiing and riding.

Lawrence never fully recovered from a back injury and she died 04 November 2000 at her London home from an alcoholic liver disease, aged 49.
