Stenløse

Stenløse is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Frederiksborg County on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 65 km², and has a total population of 13,384 (2005). ts mayor is Willy Eliasen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party.
The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Stenløse.
Neighboring municipalities are Ledøje-Smørum to the southeast, Ballerup and Værløse to the east, Farum to the northeast, Allerød to the north, Slangerup to the northwest, and Ølstykke to the west, and Gundsø to the south.
By January 1, 2007 Stenløse municipality will cease to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be merged with existing Ledøje-Smørum and Ølstykke municipalities to form the new Egedal municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 126 km² and a total population of 39,267 (2005). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Hovedstaden ("Capital Region").
