Stefano Tacconi (born 13 May 1957 in Perugia) is an Italian former professional football player, well rememberd for his skill as a goalkeeper as well for his lively, outspoken person.

He made his first significant experiences within Spoleto football club, then, already under the interest of Inter Milan, had his first brief stints as pro with Pro Patria[1] and Livorno before joining Sambenedettese. He then reached Serie A with Avellino in the 1980/1981 season; there he remained three years before joining Juventus FC in 1983.

With Giovanni Trapattoni's Juventus, one of the greatest teams ever in football history, Tacconi won 2 scudetti in 1984 and 1986, the European Champion Clubs' Cup in 1985 (in the tragic Heysel night) and the Intercontinental Cup the same year against Argentinos Juniors, after a memorable match and a penalty shootout. In 1990 Tacconi went on to win together with his companions a UEFA Cup and a Coppa Italia. He was Walter Zenga's reserve at 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy.

After ten years of stormy and passionate relationship with Juventus FC (during the 1985/1986 he was kept on the bench during a difficult period for him and the team), in 1994 Tacconi transferred to Genoa C.F.C., an unlucky choice to close a brilliant career since Genoa fell down to Serie B in the end of season.

After quitting with professional football, Tacconi had several disappointing experiences in politics: in 1999 he was on Alleanza Nazionale's lists for the European parliamentary elections, but lost; in 2005 he then tried to have himself candidate president of Lombardy for Nuovo MSI, an extreme right-wing formation, but he did not find enough signs to validate his candidacy; in 2006, he put in for a palce of city councilman in Milan again within Alleanza Nazionale, supporting winner Letizia Moratti for mayor, but gained only 57 personal preferences (votes) and was not elected to the office.

Known for a brilliant and sometimes rash character and for his taste for beautiful women, Tacconi took part to reality show L'isola dei famosi in 2003, regaining some popularity, though his fame will ever be based upon his performances amidst the goal posts.
