From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stefan Rahmstorf (born February 22, 1960) is a German oceanographer and climatologist. Since 2000, he has been a Professor of Physics of the Oceans at Potsdam University. He holds a PhD in oceanography from Victoria University of Wellington (1990). His work focuses on the role of ocean currents in climate change.

In 1999 Rahmstorf was awarded the $ 1 million Centennial Fellowship Award of the US-based James S. McDonnell foundation. Rahmstorf is a member of the Panel on Abrupt Climate Change and of the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU).
