Stefan Dohr

Stefan Dohr (born 1965) is a German horn player and currently the principal horn of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra (Berliner Philharmoniker). Apart from being a sought-after masterclass teacher, he teaches the horn at the Herbert von Karajan Academy and is a guest professor at the Hanns Eisler Music Conservatory in Berlin.

Born in 1965 in Münster, Stefan Dohr studied the horn with Prof. Wolfgang Wilhelmi at the Musikhochschule in Essen and with Prof. Erich Penzel in Cologne before obtaining the Solo Horn position of the Frankfurt Opera House at the age of 19.

He has also held the principal position of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Nice, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and the Bayreuth Festspiel Orchestra.

Since 1993 he has held the solo horn position at the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.[1] Apart from his work in the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and his work as a horn professor, Stefan Dohr is in demand as a chamber musician and soloist.
