Stefan Bryła

Stefan Bryła (b. August 17, 1886 in Kraków - December 3, 1943 in Warsaw, Poland) was a Polish construction engineer and welding pioneer.
He was Professor at Lwów University of Technology from 1927, and Warsaw University of Technology from 1934.
Bryła was the author of basic methods of welding steel structures. In 1927 he built the first welded road bridge in the world. He also designed the Prudential high rise building in Warsaw in 1932.
During the World War II he taught at "Secret Universities"
He was murdered by the Germans in Warsaw in 1943.
