Steen's cane syrup is a 100% pure cane syrup produced in Abbeville, Louisiana by C. S. Steen's Syrup Mill, Inc. It is packaged in bright yellow cans and in jars with bright yellow labels. It is a traditional choice -- in some homes in its region of distribution, the only choice -- for biscuits and pancakes as well as pain perdu. Steen's syrup has also been incorporated into more sophisticated recipes by Louisiana chefs wishing to emphasize local products.
