Stedman Pearson (born Stedman Pearson Jr.) on June 29, 1964 in Romford) is an English singer and former member of the pop group Five Star.
Stedman (or Sted) is the eldest of the five Pearson siblings, and has a background in dance and fashion. He left college to join his sisters and younger brother in Five Star in 1983. Stedman's main role in the group, as well as backing singer, was designing their glittering stage costumes for tv appearances and concerts which became a trademark as they broke the mainstream in 1985.
Stedman holds only one credit as lead vocalist in Five Star. "Feelings", from their eponymous 1990 album was written and produced by himself. In 1990 Billboard gave a review of the album and thought 'Feelings' along with 'What about me baby?' would be 'an awesome hit' if released. Stedman, as well as the other members, wrote and produced b-sides for their single releases including 'Stone Court' (an instrumental named after their Berkshire mansion) and Pure Energy, flipside to one of their biggest hits, System Addict.
After the group shrunk to a trio on 2001, Stedman joined his sisters, Denise and Lorraine in performing as Five Star at live gigs until 2006.
In September 2006 Stedman appeared on TV in the UK on the Channel 5 programme "The All Star Talent Show", showcasing his recently resurrected ballet skills before a live studio and home audience. Denise appeared on the show in the audience - and it was pointed out by presenter Andi Peters that it was the first time the two had appeared together on TV for 11 years. Viewers voted him in third place.
Stedman now plans to release a solo Album under the Jonesey management group, due for release early next year.
