[edit] ...but you can call me Len if you want
[edit] my special interest and area of expertise is plants
i hope to work on pages dealing with every aspect of the green world, including
- "big picture" stuff like
- ecosystems & ecology
- conservation & restoration
- invasive creatures (not just plants but people, too!) and
- phytogeography & geobotany
- "scientific" stuff like
- cellular biology
- organic chemistry, and
- all the various subdivisions of botany (including that most exciting of emerging disciplines, molecular botany!)
- "organizational" & "housekeeping" stuff like
- nomenclature & systematics, and
- morphology, cladistics & taxonomy;
and, most of all
- "useful" stuff like
- all of the many "cultures"
- (agri-, silvi-, pomi- viti-, seri-, api-, horti- and on and on!), plus
- economic botany & soil science
- pathology & pests and diseases
- Integrated Pest Management (IPM) & Permaculture
- all of the many "cultures"
- and all of the other ways humans interface with the green...
and don't forget the
- "weird & wonderful" stuff, too--sometimes the most important stuff of all:
- ethnobotany & paleobotany
- plant-based medicines & magics (new & old)
- myths and meanings of plants all over the world
- folk tales & taboos, and
- plants
- in art
- in music, and
- in religion

[edit] i love this place
[edit] ...talk about getting carried away
[edit] but it was a fun way to tell my tale
[edit] whilst honing my wiki-formatting skills
[edit] by the way
[edit] i've been a registered user for years now
[edit] but...
my reading-to-writing ratio must be hovering around 10,000:1 (ten thousand articles scoured for every one single contribution...full article and one-word edit alike...sigh!)
if my mother were still alive i'd promise her to do better, but luckily for the both of us, she's not (that sentence is neither mean nor macabre, no matter how it seems)
