STAGECOACH THEATRE ARTS

Stagecoach Theatre Arts plc is an international network of part-time theatre schools for children and young people aged 4 to16 years. Founded in Britain in 1988, it currently has over 600 centres in almost every town throughout the UK, together with others in Ireland, Germany, Spain, Malta, Gibraltar, Australia, Canada and the U.S.A.

Stagecoach offers young people a basic training in the performance skills of drama, dance and singing which help build their confidence and develop character and communication with others. The schools, which restrict class sizes to 15 students, run for three hours at weekends with shorter sessions for the younger children.

Although Stagecoach is open to all young people with an interest in the performing arts whatever their ability, it does provide opportunities to perform professionally and some students have found considerable success in film, television and major theatre productions. These have included Jamie Bell [Billy Elliot], Emma Watson [Harry Potter] and Miffy Englefield [The Holiday].

Students from across the globe audition for Stagecoach’s annual summer showcase and International Choir Festival. Occasionally Stagecoach schools worldwide come together for large national events. These have included performances at The Royal Albert Hall, the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, the Queen’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, The Lord Mayor’s Show and Her Majesty’s and Drury Lane Theatres in London’s West End.
