Template:Starbox short

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

{{{name}}}
Observation data
Equinox {{{epoch}}}
Constellation {{{constell}}}
Right ascension {{{ra}}}
Declination {{{dec}}}

Unlike the other Starbox templates, this template is stand-alone. It should be used as follows:

{{Starbox short |
  name=Star name |
  epoch=Epoch of observation |
  constell=Constellation name |
  ra=Right ascension |
  dec=Declination |
  appmag_v=Apparent magnitude (Johnson-Cousins V system) |
  absmag_v=Absolute magnitude (Johnson-Cousins V system) |
  dist_ly=Distance in light-years (with error) |
  dist_pc=Distance in parsecs (with error) |
  spectral=Spectral type |
  names=Other catalog designations }}

The line absmag_v=...| can be omitted if the absolute magnitude is not known; the absolute magnitude will then be omitted from the infobox. Similarly, the lines dist_ly=...| and dist_pc=...| can be omitted if the distance is not known, spectral=...| can be omitted if the spectral type is not known, appmag_v=...| can be omitted if the apparent magnitude is not known, and names=...| can be omitted if there are no other designations or it is not desired to list other designations.

Here is an example:

60 Cancri

There is an IAU standard for the format of catalog designations.
