Template:Starbox short
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Observation data Equinox {epoch} |
|
---|---|
Constellation | {constell} |
Right ascension | {ra} |
Declination | {dec} |
Unlike the other Starbox templates, this template is stand-alone. It should be used as follows:

The line absmag_v=...| can be omitted if the absolute magnitude is not known; the absolute magnitude will then be omitted from the infobox. Similarly, the lines dist_ly=...| and dist_pc=...| can be omitted if the distance is not known, spectral=...| can be omitted if the spectral type is not known, appmag_v=...| can be omitted if the apparent magnitude is not known, and names=...| can be omitted if there are no other designations or it is not desired to list other designations.
Here is an example:
Observation data Equinox J2000.0 (ICRS) |
|
---|---|
Constellation | Cancer |
Right ascension | 08h 55m 55.6s |
Declination | +11° 37′ 34″ |
Apparent magnitude (V) | +5.44 |
Absolute magnitude (V) | -0.82 |
Distance | 582 ± 113 ly (179 ± 35 pc) |
Spectral type | K5III |
Other designations | |

There is an IAU standard for the format of catalog designations.
