The Elendilmir is not the same jewel as the the Star of the Dúnedain which was given to Samwise Gamgee. The latter is the star that the Rangers of the North wear as they come to Dunharrow to meet with Aragorn, and is not a jewel but rather a special insignia. While I can't find the quote right now, CRRT specifically discussed this in the HoME series as a serious error in Foster's guide. No matter how highly Aragorn valued 'Master Halfwise who should be named Full-wise', the thought of him giving an heirloom of the royal house to a Hobbit is ludicrous. — Jor (Talk) 01:28, 27 Mar 2004 (UTC)

"The jewel was given by Silmariën to Elendil"

Which Elendil? Tar-Elendil? Or is there another Silmariën? [[User:Aranel|Aranel ("Sarah")]] 16:50, 29 Oct 2004 (UTC)
