[edit] Plot Overview

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Mattie Jensen is a famous soap opera star in Light of our Love, a Worldwide Broadcast Studio television star. When her co-star, Rick Arlen, begins receiving death threats and poisoned chocolates, Nancy is called upon to put a stop to whoever this is before worse things happen. Nancy searches the area for clues until another attempt at Rick's life closes the set. Dwayne Powers, a talent agent, gets Nancy a job as an extra for "Light of our Love". A bomb is soon discovered in Rick's dressing room and Nancy is there just in time to defuse it. After more investigating Nancy discovers that Lilian Weiss is responsible for sending Rick the "poisoned" chocolates (in reality they were only tainted with Castor Oil). After accusing Lillian of having something to do with Rick's threats she kicks fires but Dwayne manages to convince the producer to keep Nancy on the show. Nancy looks through the different offices of the studio plus Dwayne's office to discover that a stage hand has been on the set every time something happened to Rick. Nancy searches this person out only to find that it has been Dwayne Powers in disguise and finds the plans for the bomb in his apartment along with traces of his overdue bills and credit card charges. Lillian calls to meet Nancy in the set at night. There Lillian shows Nancy that she has also received a threatening letter after doing her own investigation. She asks Nancy who could be behind all this. At this point you could choose any person and list their reason but in the end Dwayne is the one proven responsible by trapping Lillian and Nancy into the set. He reveals that although Rick started sending the threats to himself Dwayne took it a step farther. As he begins to come down the stage to strangle the two trapped women Nancy tells Lillian to hide. Nancy flips the fire alarm switch and overrides the security system to open the door. Security comes in and arrests Dwayne. While Dwayne Powers awaits trial, he publicly apologizes for his crimes. Lillian Weiss moves out to California and begins to direct her own movie. Mattie Jensen's and Rick Arlen's characters get married ensuring that Rick stays on the show.

[edit] Accidents

Within Stay Tuned For Danger and other Nancy Drew games, there are a number mistakes or accidents you can make, such as falling down stairs or setting something on fire. The "Second Chance" option can be used to correct such mistakes.

Here is a list of the mistakes you can make in Stay Tuned For Danger:

  • Pulling the fire alarm when there isn't an emergency
  • Being found by security after night
  • Not defusing the bomb in time or cutting the wrong wire
  • Not overriding the security system in time
  • Taking too long in trying to get help in the end of the game.
Spoilers end here.

[edit] Trivia

  • When Nancy is talking to her boyfriend Ned she mentions that Rick has an ego worse than Daryl Gray. Daryl Gray is a character from Secrets Can Kill the previous game.
  • Mattie Jensen's resume states that she played "Connie Watson" in a production of "Paseo del Muerto" ("Trail of the Death"). This is another reference to Secrets Can Kill. Connie is student who goes to "Paseo del Mar" ("Trail of the Sea") High School.
  • Millie's script mentions Blackmoor manor which may be a reference to both game and book "Curse of Blackmoor Manor".
  • A slip-up found in the game is that a player could double click on Mattie's perfume cabinet then be transported to Dwayne's office. (This glitch has been patched in newer versions of the game)
  • A clock in the prop room resembles the Crowley Clock from the first Nancy Drew book Secret of the Old Clock
  • There are several things with the Her Interactive logo on them: a skateboard in the prop room, a card in Powers wallet and a HER card on the Roladex, and on various mugs around the studio.
  • On Mattie's script at home, on the folded over side, you can see "Help me, Nancy"
  • On Dwayne's calculator are the numbers 5317.34, and upside down on certain calculators, that would read "He Lies"
  • If you decode the message on Lillian's calendar, it says: Life Is Like A Box Of Chocolates
  • If you decode the message in the prop room log book it reads:

Many pages come before this, In the log book with a clue, but nothing comes after this, Unless it's written on the glue...

  • In Rick's chocolates, the letters read "Die Rick"
  • When you put in the floppy disc and access Millie's account, there's a lot of information on Lillian and Rick's date.
  • In the fax, if you read the italicized words starting from the left and going down, then to the next row, It says: bitter chocolates revenge to bitter date...or something like that!
  • the CD case in Rick's room has a jumble of letters on it. When decoded, they read: One motive which deserves a mention, a simple hoax for pure attention.
  • The magazines in a basket at Mattie's apartment have cover pictures that also appear in Curse of Blackmoor Manor in a newspaper and as portraits.

Note: Series has nothing to do with the plot but it does make finding the Easter egg (media) easier.
