Statesboro High School is located in Statesboro, Georgia. The current principal is Marty Waters. There are currently 1,568 students enrolled. The school is proud of its two AAAA State Football Championships in the past 5 years, with the most recent one in 2005. A new football stadium was recently constructed[2]. Construction of a new school began on January 19th, 2007. It is expected to be finished within 18 months.

Statesboro High School made adequate yearly progress in 2006[3].

Statesboro High was originally located in downtown Statesboro. It was relocated in the early 1960s to 10 Lester Road where it currently resides.

The school is divided into Smaller Learning Communities, or SLCs. The four SLCs are:

  • The School of Foundational Studies
  • The School of Education, Health, and Human Services
  • The School of Engineering, Science and Industrial Technology
  • The School of Business and Technology

Statesboro High School has a proud athletic tradition winning the AAAA football state championships in 2001 and 2005 and the AAAA boy's basketball championship in 1991. The current Blue Devils football head coach is Steve Pennington. Pennington has coached football for 25 years. SHS is also proud of its other spectacular sports including: the Swim Team (SHS Aqua Devils), girl's basketball, girl's and boy's soccer, softball, baseball, tennis, cross country, track, tennis, and cheerleading (for basketball and football).

Honoring the Statesboro tradition of excellence, other teams have reached the prestigious state level in the past year. These teams include the swim and cross country teams.
