Staten Island University Hospital

A major tertiary referral center on Staten Island, in New York City, Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) is a three-campus, 785-bed hospital center founded in 1861 as the Samuel R. Smith Infirmary.

It consists of the North Campus, South Campus, and Concord Campus.

In the 1980s the institution adopted its current name with the merger of Staten Island Hospital (North Campus) and the Richmond Memorial Hospital (South Campus). Doctor's Hospital of Staten Island in Concord, Staten Island, 1050 Targee Street, became SIUH's Concord campus in the 1990s. It is currently closed and awaiting renovations.

SIUH maintains an academic affiliation with the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine whose medical students and residents complete a portion of their training at SIUH. SIUH also operates, in conjunction with Wagner College, a Physician Assistant training program. SIUH is part of the North Shore-LIJ Health System.
