State Theatre (Traverse City)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The State Theatre is a movie theatre under restoration on East Front Street in Traverse City, Michigan. It is connected to Bravo, a gift and clothing store opened by the Interlochen Center for the Arts. Bravo is housed in the Smith/Kurtz building, providing lobby space for the State Theatre and offering theatre patrons opportunities to shop and see art exhibitions. The Bravo space opened to the public June 2005.

The complex is slated for an exanded stage in a 750-seat auditorium with offices, a gallery and classroom space adjacent to the performance space. The complex is planned to host performances by the Traverse Symphony Orchestra and serve as that orchestra's permanent home.

The venue is available for performances by community arts groups on a rental basis.
