State Public Science and Technical Library (Moscow)

State Public Science and Technical Library (abbr. GPNTB, Russian: ГПНТБ, Russian: Государственная Публичная Научно-Техническая Библиотека России) is the national library of Russia, located in Moscow. Founded 1958 on the basis of the State Science Library of the Ministry of Higher Education of USSR.
The mission of the library is in forming and storing of national and foreign science and technical literature, informational and bibliographical services of the individual readers, enterprises, organisations and other institutions of the Russian Federation and foreign countries, development and application of the up-to-date automatized library informational technologies.
Library has a status of Scientific Research Institute with an academic council consisting of 30 well-known scientists and specialists of library informational technologies.
Library has an integrated complex system "IRBIS" for the automatization of data processing. This system became the official standard for the other libraries. Library was one of the leaders who used a technology of barcodes.
There's a Internet cafe, informational consultation center and an education department in the library.
Library is situated near the center of Moscow (within the 15 minutes walk to Kremlin)....
