Stat padding
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Stat padding is commonly referred to in sports as an action that makes your statistics look good despite being of little benefit to your team actually winning. An example would be a basketball player scoring a lot of points in the fourth quarter of a game in which their team was winning by an unsurmountable score.
Stat padding is also noticeable in online computer games, in which a group of players will perform a series of actions which generally require little skill in order to raise the players' statistics. For example, in first person shooters, two or more players might join different teams and constantly kill one another, usually followed by a heal, revive, or respawn. Actions such as these are usually done in passworded or empty servers.
