Startin' Over is the forthcoming album by American singer La Toya Jackson. When released, it will be Jackson's eleventh studio album. It produced two top twenty-five U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play hits: "Just Wanna Dance" (number thirteen, October 2004) and "Free the World" (number twenty-four, March 2005). The album was originally scheduled for release in 2002, but its release has been continually delayed to the point where Jackson is currently re-working the album to sound more up-to-date. [1]

The first promo of Startin' Over was released in 2002. Because the album has been delayed, fans were eager to get their hands on a copy. Some had even claimed to be employees of Ja-Tail Records and demanded that promos be returned. This was the only promotional copy of Startin' Over that had been released. Eventually, the entire promo was leaked, making it virtually worthless.

Many new tracks have been recorded for the "updated" album, although it was announced at one point that only twelve tracks will be used. A single and music video called "Startin' Over" were also planned; unfortunately, the single was scrapped. Instead, Ja-Tail announced that they planned on releasing a single called "I Don't Play That", based on Jackson's experiences on the CBS reality series Armed and Famous. The single was released to radio on January 29, 2007.

The original version of the album included many tracks about Jackson's relationship with her abusive ex-husband and former manager Jack Gordon. Several of them hint towards brutal beatings and plans to have her family killed. Jackson decided not to use any of those tracks after Gordon's death from cancer.

It should also be noted that between "Tropical Breeze" and "Home", only one will appear on the final version. It has also been confirmed that the single "Just Wanna Dance" will appear on the album, but that "Free the World" will be omitted.
